Who are we?
We are a youth sports girls basketball club incorporated as a nonprofit youth organization with the IRS and the Attorney General's Office in the State of NH. The club is a member of the Amatuer Athletic Union of the U.S.A. Inc. (AAU).
Mission Statement
To provide young women an opportunity to master basketball skills and advance to the highest level of play that their natural ability and desire will allow. We will retain the most competent coaches and play the highest level of competition available. Maximization of playing and practice time will enhance proficiency, self confidence, self discipline, respect, time management and enjoyment of the sport. We will endeavor to keep the cost of participation affordable.
Our Coaches
5th Grade - Michael Ayotte
Coach Ayotte joins the Rockettes for his first year. Michael has
previously coached in AAU with the NH Shooting Stars and Vipers
organizations. Michael has served on the Bedford Basketball Board of
Directors for the last eight years where he is the Girls Recreational
Director. He is also currently the Bedford Girls 4th Grade Travel
Coach. Michael is a graduate of Londonderry High School and the
University of New Hampshire and has resided in Bedford since 1995.
6th Grade - George Roy
A Virginia native, Coach Roy is a US
Army veteran and graduated from Keene State College with a BS in
Sociology. As a player, George earned numerous accolades including High
School All-American, All-Army 2nd team, and collegiate All Conference
and MVP awards. Coach Roy has 20 years of experience as a coach at
numerous levels including girls basketball with the Granite State
Rockettes and Hooksett Middle School, boys coach at Southside and
Cawley Middle Schools, high school varsity at Souhegan High School, and
Women's Head Coach at Hesser College. George is an 18 year certified
IAABO Basketball and Football official and resides in Manchester with
his wife Ellen. Coach Roy has 2 grown daughters who he raised through
the basketball ranks and when not on an athletic field or court, spends
his time spoiling 5 grandchildren.Program Director/7th Grade (Co-Coach) - Steve Signor
Coach Signor returns to the Rockettes for his fourth season and will be co-coaching again with Bob Field the 7th grade squad. Steve is currently the head varsity girls coach at Milford High School. Steve is a teacher at Central High School in Manchester where he coaches the Track and Field team at Central High School in Manchester. Steve has extensive experience as an athletic trainer and devises year round conditioning programs for many of the area's top high school athletes. Steve, his wife Shannon, and 2 children reside in Manchester, NH.
7th Grade (Co-Coach)/4th Grade - Bob Field
Coach Field returns in 2011 as the Co Head Coach of our 7th grade team. Bob was co-coach on last year's 6th grade squad and looks forward to working with Coach Signor again to develop the skills of our young ladies. Bob is a Fire Training Instructor with the Manchester Fire Department and resides in Manchester with his wife Michelle and 2 daughters.
8th Grade - Matt Olsen
Coach Olsen returns for his fifth year as a Rockettes head coach with this year's 8th grade team. Matt is a lifelong New Hampshire resident, who played on several very successful Alvirne High School Boys teams and possesses 15 years of coaching experience at school, travel, and AAU levels. Matt has earned both Bachelor and Master's degrees in Education and brings a strong focus on teaching fundamental skills development to his teams. Matt is a school principal in the Derry, NH school system and resides in Auburn with his wife Diane and 2 children.
9th Grade - Jamie Cote
Coach Cote enters his fifth year with the Rockettes. A New Hampshire
native, Jamie played at Trinity High School of Manchester and brings ten
years of coaching experience at travel, middle school, and AAU levels.
Jamie is the former head coach of the Auburn Middle School Girls
basketball squad which compiled a record of 53-3 with 2 Class S Titles, 1
Class M Title and 1 Class M Runner-up over 4 seasons. Jamie brings a love
and respect of the game to his teams and resides in Auburn with his wife
Angela and 2 daughters, who both play for other coaches in the Rockettes
organization.
10th Grade - Amy Downing
Coach Downing, a NH native who played high school basketball at Pinkerton
Academy, has 12 years of coaching experience in various school, AAU and
travel organizations in the area, including the Londonderry Basketball
Club. She is currently coaching at Londonderry Middle School,
where her teams have earned four Tri- County League Championships over the
years. This will be her second year coaching in the Granite State
Rockettes AAU organization. Amy has been a middle school educator for
twenty years, and brings her experience and passion for teaching to the
court, with a focus on developing athletes both as players and people.
Amy and her husband, Jon, reside in Londonderry with their two daughters,
who also share a love of the game.
11th Grade - Mike McGown
Coach McGown returns for his 5th season of AAU ball in the Rockettes
organization. Prior to this, he coached in the Shooting Stars and
Viper organizations. The last 3 seasons have been with the Rockettes
U16 group. Several of his former players play in college now or are
committed to doing the same. The team goals are player development
and improvement (individually and as a team), college showcase
opportunities and enjoyment of the game. Coach has a wife Laura and
three daughters, all grew up playing basketball.
